FUTURE GARDENS is an event with a difference. Situated 30 minutes outside London and opening in June 2009, Future Gardens (founded by the same team who created The International Festival of the Garden at Westonbirt, UK) offers designers, via a bursary scheme, unrivalled freedom to experiement, and to create chellenging, innovative and ground-breaking gardens that will fire visitors' imagination and get the world talking. The entire FUTURE GARDENS event will represent one of the most creative environmental initiatives in the UK.
Designs are being sought for 12 garden sites at the Butterfly World Project which will be the UK showcase for sustainably executed, contemporary gardens.
Outside personal space - no matter how small - has never been more precious than it is today. In our overcrowded world, we all yearn for the sancuary that a garden can provide.
Our ambition is to offer you, the designer, that chance to meet that desire in the most innovative way possible.
In a deliberate move away from high-cost show gardens, FUTURE GARDENS offers a generous bursary scheme giving each designer a maximum budget of £25,000.
